Sock-Fit Sneakers – A Major Men’s Trend for Spring 2018
For Spring Summer 2018 the sock-fit sneaker for men is the front-runner. Designers like Neil Barrett, Marcelo Burlon, Giuseppe Zanotti and GCDS showed that there are plenty of ways to wear this sock-like sneaker.
The most tech-centric sneakers of all were from Marcelo Burlon’s which were done in a scuba material that came in a wide range of colors, including some in black with an orange sole and others blue with a black sole.
GCDS launched its full men’s shoes collection this season, and they showed mid-calf versions of the knitted sock-fit sneakers that came in white or red. Neil Barrett’s also had a similar silhouette but his looked a lot like a typical tube sock with two stripes right at the top.
Giuseppe Zanotti went for both a low-top version and a mid-calf style in his sneakers, of which one pair had numerous straps, and another had his signature side zip.
The Top Sandal Trends This Season
The Strappy Velcro Sandal styles at Car Shoe, Louis Vuitton and Paul Smith looked amazing worn with tailored ready-to-wear. Luxe Flip-Flops were seen at Haider Ackermann and J.W. Anderson. Their ribbon-tied versions of these high-end shoes were among the season’s most surprising breakout stars.
Leather Fisherman Sandals are a perfect style for this kind of transitional weather, and it’s no wonder that the fisherman sandal came out in full force this season, thanks to brands like Prada.
The Pool Slides trend was seen at Versace, Jimmy Choo and Dolce & Gabbana where the shoes got some serious luxe treatment in high quality leather and fur.
We saw high-end versions of the Refined Dress Styles in burnished leathers and sleek silhouettes which elevated these classics at Songzio, Santoni and Giuseppe Zanotti.
There were plenty of other shoes that made our list of favorites for this season like N. 21’s retro running sneakers, Fendi’s loafer-mule slingbacks, Salvatore Ferragamo’s creeper sole desert boots, Prada’s neoprene Velcro’d runners, Jimmy Choo’s espadrille-mule hybrids, Edhen Milano’s raffia mules, Santoni’s All-White Kiltie Brogue and Giuseppe Zanotti’s camo-print scuba sneakers.
